On September 5th, 2014, Ricardo Barrera was recognized in a special commendation issued by the Cameron County Bar Association.
The CCBA issued the recognition to thank those individuals who helped with a fundraiser for Assistant DA Brent Gimble, who was very seriously injured by a drunk driver.
The commendation reads:
Nearly $8,000 was raised by the Cameron County DA’s Office and the Cameron County Bar Association in order to benefit the family of Assistant DA Brent Gimble, who was very seriously injured by a drunk driver.
Special thanks go to District Attorney Luis Saenz and 2013-2014 Pro Bono Award Winner Ricardo A. Barrera for the coordination efforts and many man hours put forth in hatching the cause and then following it through to completion.
Very Special thanks also go to Holly D’Andrea, Brett Patillo, Melissa Zamora, Matt Kendall, Edward Sandoval, Ismael Hinojosa, and Sara Barrera.
As a result of the leadership and hard work of the individuals named above, hundreds were unified towards positive social action, and the family of a fellow member of the Cameron County Bar Association received much needed help, during a very dark and confusing time.
