The unexpected arrival of divorce papers can be a life-changing event. As you stand at this crossroads, it’s crucial to recognize that you are not alone in facing the complexities of divorce.

Divorce is more than just a legal process; it’s a life transition that can impact your finances, living situation, and relationships.

  1. First and foremost, you’ve got to read them. Make sure to follow any careful instructions from a judge, already signed on what to do and what not to do.

  2. Second, make sure that anything that you have in terms of finances, property, or things like that are accounted for and you’re able to show them, if necessary, and don’t move money.

  3. Don’t give anything away and don’t undo anything that’s already in place. The Court will look better upon somebody who is transparent and willing to have everything known, instead of having it hidden.

  4. Regarding kids, make as little change in their lives as possible unless otherwise directed by the Court papers.
